We just returned from a fun mini vacation! After Don got home from work on Friday we loaded the car and the three of us set out on a 3 hr drive down to Atlanta, GA. We had made plans with Don's sister, Susan, and her family in Alabama to go to the Atlanta Zoo. We all arrived that Friday night for we could get there early Saturday morning right when the Zoo opened. In Knoxville Don and I had gone early in the morning and they had just thrown all the food to the animals - so everyone was out in the open and to the front of the cages. It was so neat to be that close -so we thought it was only proper to do the same in Atlanta. Carter did well in the car and slept most the way. He cried a little but Don and I busted out the "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" song, as well as "If You're Happy and you know it" and a few others that he knows well from the Babies Can Read DVD's. It's so funny how he calms right down. We arrived at our Hotel, checked in, fed Carter and met up with the Tulicks. We arrived at the Zoo in the morning and had a lot of fun. It is amazing the animals the Lord has created for our pleasure. There were just a few downsides though, like the 92F weather with humidity and all the animals pretty much hiding. HaHa Oh well, Carter did not pay much attention to the animals. The only thing he thought was awesome was the stuffed Leopard that was in the Gift Shop -- and that was only because I pretended it was our cat (whom Carter adores). He was laughing and grabbing for that fuzzy leopard like he does to Tigger. So cute.
Here are a few photos! Enjoy....oh, click on them to see a larger view.In the Hotel Bed - ready to go!
To our utmost HORROR sometime went terribly wrong today! A keeper left a gate unlocked and a Lion got in and killed this Zebra....then some Vultures came and picked it clean.... GROSS!
Carter loves to chew on these teething biscuits. He makes such an adorable mess!

You can definitely see the difference in the larger zoo's options of animals and in the petting zoo.
Cute- at least it was a memorable zoo trip! Oh man, those biter biscuits were almost the death of me! SUCH a mess! We had to find alternatives- your celery idea looks pretty awesome to me!
Looks like you guys had fun at the zoo :-) --- Is that zebra for real?
We haven't been to the zoo in Seattle yet. We keep meaning to but so far... ha!
I'm glad you guys had so much fun!
What a fun trip! It really is amazing all of the animals that are on this Earth - God certainly has a creative streak!
How sad about that zebra. You wonder if that zoo keeper kept his job after that...oops!
HEY ALL -- Don was mean and did not want me to put in the blog, at the end, that the Zebra was fake and was displayed in the vulture cage. HaHa Sorry Britt and Allysa! It was gross to see it in there, and it looked pretty real. Nice touch Atlanta Zoo...
OH we love the Dennis family, you guys look so cute!!!
